This list of ancestors contains 54 individuals spanning the period from 18th century up to date.

The 20th century centre of the Winkler family is in the region Wermsdorf/Nordsachsen. Other ancestors lived in the Freiburg area. One line ancestors by marriage came from a rural region near Bremen. For historical circumstances, one line goes back to refugees from Lower Silesia.
