The original document is in private ownership of the Papsdorf family archive. This list of
ancestors contains 1130 individuals spanning the period from the 16th to the 20th century. They originated from the region Middle Saxony, especially from Zschopau and surroundings.

The List of Ancestors was compiled by Kurt Gensel (1936), and was kindly recorded and edited by Wolfgang Friedrich, . The preliminary note of the list says as following:

'I have tried to collect the messages about the Gensel families of Zschopau I have got over the years to assemble a main line and to give a certain overview to the extensive material. First of all the relating church records were analysed, and in addition information from printouts and family members were exploited. The records of the trust for study and dowry aids to the relatives of Magdalena Arnold née Hübler (1543 - 1602), State Archive Chemnitz, gave valuable hints about the oldest family members of Zschopau who lived in times before the beginning of the church records. A sister of this wealthy but childless Magdalena Arnold's mother was the mother of the often mentioned mayor Lorenz Gensel of Zschopau. The family tree could be extended that way by an additional hitherto unknown generation and the assumption of rector Christian Friedrich Willsch within his script about the Gensel family of Annaberg from 1713, that the ancestors of Lorenz Gensel must have already been resident in Zschopau for some time, is confirmed. Willsch's further statements, the Gensels of Zschopau were said to descend from a "distinguished lineage" of Franconia encouraged me to regarding investigations. The name appeared about 1500 also in Fraconia, especially in and aroung Ebermannstadt, indeed. I was not able to discover a family relationship. Basically, the later descendants of the Zschopau Gensel family can be traced back to the youngest son of Lorenz G. Apollonius. That Lorenz must have been the only child because only his five sons and their descendants are entitled to the Arnold trust. However he must have had cousins who lived in Zschopau at the time. Some of the families mentioned in my addendum can certainly be traced back to them. I supposed not to pass on the presentation of these families in order to depict my wish for further amendments.
I bring this collection to a certain close and I appreciate each hint, addition or correction.
