Recorded here are the debts relating to the Eibenstock mining industry with the title "Auszüge aus dem Eibenstocker Berghandelsbuch Vol. I
1566" These extracts were compiled by the genealogist Ernst Költzsch in Wilkau-Haßlau, April 1964. Publishing was permitted courtesy of his son, Prof. Dr. Költzsch. The transcript is in the library Ratsschulbibliothek Zwickau, a copy in the archive of the AMF e.V. The original tax records are held in the Saxon State Archive, Mining Archive Freiberg.

The list contains the persons who made payments or took loans for their trade business. In the transcript the liabilities are recorded.

There are 394 traders recorded appearing in 160 regests.

In his preliminary remarks the Author Ernst Költzsch indicates the following limitations:

"The Mining Archive Freiberg has 9 volumes of mining account records from the old mining office in Eibenstock from 1566 to about 1700. For technical and time related reasons it was not possible to acquire all entries of this oldest volume. I have listed all entries for the families Siegel, Baumann, Förster, Schönfelder, Jehe; such of other families I only included if there were also recorded in the entry important genealogical facts.
For the Siegel family research the entries No. 7 ‎[Fol. 33 / 1568]‎ und No.
150 ‎[Fol. 279 / 1588]‎ are of importance. Valten Siegel as the brother of the tithe collector Melchior Siegel ‎(b. 1515)‎ has been unknown as yet. The entry No. 150 from 02 June 1588 proves the accuracy of the fact that Melchior Siegel died on 21/05/1588 and not 1590, or later, as the chronists put down."
