Besides church records tax lists are some of the oldest preserved sources from the end of the 15th century. Therewith they are an essential source for the family and local history researcher who is first of all researching in the rural environment. Only records of church and nobility are reaching deeper back into the medieval.

In order to establish links to hitherto know sources they were integrated in this database. Familial links are normally not presentable but information from court and church records may be completed.

Because tax lists have normally been kept by the landlords existing gaps in the family and local history research may be closed.

Attributes like 'before', 'after' and 'about' has been added to personal data, too. Dates of living are normally not exactly representable.

Whoever wants to publish Saxon tax lists, feel free to contact the project team. We would be glad to put in online within our database. Publication is free of charge.

On behalf of the project team
